Shelves Exposed

Wow. How many times can you rearrange bookshelves before you find the right look? For me, it's literally approaching 20 times. Since we moved into this house, I have re-styled our family room built-ins so much, I'm pretty sure my husband thinks I'm crazy. Just about every day when he comes home from work, I'm adding, taking away, moving, and sometimes just staring at the shelves. I think I'm done now.

My shelves are a mix of texture (baskets from Hobby Lobby to hide DVDs and diapers/wipes), milk glass collection, vintage and family pictures, and random books/odds & ends. What are your tips for styling open shelving? I just might need them for next time I make changes :)

Pinspiring

I'm regretting not taking a lot of pictures of our home before we started painting, changing and rearranging. It's fulfilling to be able to look back at progress you've made. One of my recent changes is our hallway half bathroom. It was so not cute when we first moved in, and it was one of the first things I wanted to change since our guests would be using it. The wall was a not-nice shade of yellow-beige. There was no mirror and the sconces were missing shades. It reminded me of a public restroom, and needless to say that's not the image I would like to convey in my home!
Enter my inspiration: (Thank you Pinterest!) I found this lovely bathroom on Pinterest, and it became my go to for how I wanted to style the bathroom.

Pinterest inspiration from archive.feedblitz.com

I loved the color, the art, the rug and everything about this bathroom. I picked a similar color at Sherwin Williams (Color is called Anonymous). And I found just the sort of rug I was looking for majorly cheap at TJ Maxx.

I found the sconces on clearance at Lowes. I was excited because they were just what I was looking for and they were $20/each!

Once I finish collecting the finishing touches on this bathroom, I'll post final pics!

Happy Friday Y'all!

I'm Baaack!

To my totally neglected blog: I have missed you. But take a look at who's been taking up all my time since November 10, 2011. That's right, my son Rowe will take the blame.

We've had a lot of changes since I last blogged, besides becoming first-time parents. We also sold our house and moved in a new one! Right now, decorating, painting and unpacking are taking up my spare time. I'll post pics of some projects I'm working on soon. Yay! It's good to be back :)
